Adagietto
I close my eyes, trying to remember you. In June the sky was blue as dolphin tears. You were so majestic, so innocent blind in a bland, suffocating world. The tortoiseshell sun longed to touch you with its fiery hand. The envious flowers drooped as you walked by. Winds drew life as you blew a kiss. Death postponed by your radiant bliss. Sands of time forever flowing. Age never cheats you. Love dare not speak ill of you. I mawkishly adore you, stupefied by thoughts for you. Evening magnolia sky caressed the land with its light. You bathed in the twilight, drowning in a sea of beauty. The sound of Mahler brought joy. Rains cleansed us removing the pain. You remain a mere abstract, neither real or imaginary, just a memory on the waters of life. But the days of youth are gone, burnt beyond repair. I haven’t seen you for many a year. The world laments, choking on tears for the dead. Love is renewed, never fading in the blur of time. This poem shall be yours forever. Written March 3rd, 2002 © on Mar 03 2002 01:03 PM PST 0 • 8
