Autumn

By Abilene

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

There’s no autumn here in Florida. And nothing that compares to the mighty pine trees or cedar. The fixed season fails to bring a cooler wind, Not even a differing smell. I seem to be alone and wishing There was some way to bring autumn to me I remember how the chill in The breeze would blow a kiss And the ground felt Like cold silk under  my feet. The feeling could be summed up in Jim Croce’s voice- the intimacy In the blow of the breeze on my cheek. There’s no autumn here in the bright sunshine No call for a change of season Then I ask what my reason is For depriving myself of any change.
