swimming every day, drowning every night
By aiwaz
another long night of rain, and water falls like sheets of eyes, thunder drums the sea like a child slapping at waves. i dreamt i was a sailor sleeping on the ocean floor the fish fluttered by my fluttering lids like breezes from a lover's hold. if evening finds me here in cold and black in this swaying moss of coral claws, return my oars to distant shores to burn in winter cold and drive the darkness back. life is for the living and in this dream of life i took not one step back, asleep all ye swimmers who drown in memory black. to think, to act, to stroke against destroying waves and swim with strength we never lack takes more than starry faith, but the swimmers stroke, without hope, must all the fickle currents obey. chart new routes find deep port float breadcrumbs to find yr way, swimmers will always drown but sailors will sleep til day.
