Going Outside
By Al Aaraaf
The wind says, “Hope You don’t go out tonight There’s death in the streets And the fires are bright And you look a little tired To be going outside Are you looking for something? Just what could you find?” And the bed says, “Why Don’t you come here and rest? The life out there’s rough And you’ll end up a mess! Maybe you’d prefer To just stay inside Are you looking for something? Just what could you find?” And the chairs say, “Well You seem to be moving on Though life is far worse With nothing to sit on! And there are plenty of us And we’re all inside Are you looking for something? Just what could you find?” But I pay them no heed As I make quite a feat With my eyes to the world And my shoes to the streets Even though it’s likely worse Than what I’ve inside I’ve gone out for love And that I will findSomething simple I wrote that I really loved at the time I wrote it... and it resulted in a week of writer's block. I don't like it as much now (I tend to end up disliking all of my poems), but it's kind of cute and nice. Written February 2nd, 2002 © on Feb 01 2002 03:07 PM PST 10 • 0 • 12
