Conscience Consequence
An accusing whisper encompasses my mind, bewildering my thoughts just as a full moon sucks the earth into its insanity. Guilt shackles me in a small dark dungeon. As my vision clears questions of "WHY" appear on the walls before me, mocking me, causing such shame I hide my face from the light as it calls out for me. I want to cry out, but my thoughts have its cold fingers choking and killing the last bit of dignity I have left. Darkness comes again as I cry. Weeping endlessly. My own tears torture me as they sting my face like acid, burning scars of guilt into my face so no one could look on me again. Shame has become one with me, exposing me to hurtful things. I close my eyes to shelter myself from harm only to wake up forlorn, a consequence of conscience, eternally... Written March 2nd, 2002 © on Mar 01 2002 05:21 PM PST 0 • 10
