The Park Bench
It's a beautiful day birds in the park an elderly man sits on the bench in the park He sits all alone with noone to talk as couples pass by on an afternoon walk Dogs playing frisbee and boys playing ball leaves turning colors it's becoming fall He sits with his hands sitting on his lap no daily coffee no afternoon nap A tear slids down his face as he thinks of his life it's been a year since he's buried his wife He thinks of friends of the second World War he thinks of only sadness has no money, he's poor A small girl walks by with mother in hand sad look on mom's face no wedding band Where has the world gone no longer like then he takes out his blanket and thinks where he's been His life was soon ending it happened in a pinch the mans life slipped away on the lonley old Park Bench.
