'A MOTHER'S JOY, A MOTHER'S SORROW (Survivor challenge 7)
By AngelEyes323
Birth…A mother’s joy Months of waiting Dreams enfolding within her heart Push, push, breathe Exhausted exhilaration Tears of pain, tears of joy A journey of love Great relief, a sudden emptiness A rendering sublime moment Nuzzled against her breast One, becoming two Ten little toes, ten little fingers Eyes full of trust, she can’t fail him A mother’s love, where he’ll seek protection A sanctuary of rest and peace An eternal cord attached to the child Who once grew inside of her Embracing the blanket which held new life God’s masterpiece in the form of a boy A quiet joy he gave She breathed his name in the air A new angel born that night Bridge…of Life No fortune awaits this beautiful boy Shaped by hard circumstance Hewn by a world that gave him no quarter Loss of a father, an untimely death Yet held high by a heart that never surrendered Finding his own way, lighting his own path Warmth given to all that he touched A gentle sweet clown, charm all his own Rap music, a sexy young thug Hat never off, backwards he wore Beautiful smile that filled the world with laughter A new love found, filling his heart Many friends, many souls he embraced Somehow he felt an untimely death approaching Often murmuring "always let him live in their hearts" His favorite quote…”miss me, but never forget me” Little did they know it would come true Death…a mother’s sorrow Death came like a thief in the night No warning, the night went mad Swept away with the wind A misunderstanding, anger arose Fire in the other’s eyes Sprayed shots and reload Cold-hearted murder, shot to the ground Dead at 18, a senseless act Confusion, life’s conclusion Left so quickly, no time for goodbyes Drawing his last breath A stab of regret for leaving His mother cried, holding his hand Brushing tears from her eyes Half her motherhood gone A gaping hole, forgetting to breathe Grieving with family and friends Crimson tears, pain unbroken Sharing feelings and memories Momento-filled coffin One last goodbye All better for having known him In his passing they did weep His body beneath the ground To lie in earth, a heavy sleeper Flowers for his grave Candles lit, to guide his way Pain nor sorrow can touch him now Grieving mother trying to find strength Her soul searing like a vapor She’s alive, her child is dead His living spirit awakens her deadness His hand one day will be outstretched Waiting for loved ones at the crossroad A new angel was born in Heaven tonight autostart=true loop=true>This was wrote for "Survivor challenge 7". We had to write something describing birth to death. This poem is based on a true story, a tragic murder that took place this week...my daughter's friend. I hope that in some way this will help her to heal. Written April 5th, 2002 © on Apr 05 2002 09:59 AM PST, Kathy D 18 • 0 • 1
