October Sky
As I walk alone Through this moonlit field I feel the bittersweet caress Of the darkness upon my skin A savage wind moves the branches of the trees. Against the sky they appear as skeletal hands Clawing at the moon Falling onto the cold damp ground My gaze fixed upwards The blanket of stars in the night sky Surrounds me I am lost in my thoughts As the beauty of the autumn night Takes me in My emotions are spun like a spiders web As I dangle by a single thread This sacred place is where I was meant to be Arising from my earthy bed Onward I will tarry Broken yet set free Under this October sky Written April 18th, 2002 © on Apr 18 2002 02:39 AM PST, Sheila Morgan 18 • 0 • 12
