Goodnight

By Bard

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

As time to go aproaches, I hold you tighter stillThe dark outside awaits me, and threatens with its chill.Back in my room, I know, there's light and heat and friendsBut still I hold you closer, I hope this never ends.I think in time I'll leave, it's best for you and I(?)For though I'd stay forever, friendship would it try.Yours and mine gainst hers and yours, and even more unsaidIf only I could change my heart, and listen to my head.In honesty I care for you, though fear it's not answeredI'm scared of being used by you, may it sound absurd.I feel you see me more than friend, yet less than one to dateRegardless though, I wish you'd tell exactly where I rate.If you and I are not to be, I hope you'll set me rightFor though it hurts I think it best, for us to say goodnight. If instead there'll be a time that I may kiss your cheekTo say goodnight, until the light, then form such words and speak.
