And it Rained
By Benj
Children played on their playing ground. A dirty dog rambled around. and it rained, Mothers walked in an empty park. Fathers walked within the dark. and it rained, Cats dug through filthy cans. Mice washed their miniature hands. and it rained, Blood spilled from an open wound, Then washed away with the flowing gloom. and it rained, Rabid men bit kind rats. Mice chased frightened cats. and it poured And it poured for days And it poured for nights, And it washed away the sweet little sights, And it washed away the safe little lights, And if flooded the streets like a mighty tide- Then it died... off... a little... And flowers grew from the moistened ground, A dampened dog rambled around, Time stopped without a sound. And it rained. Written January 23rd, 2002 © on Jan 23 2002 02:41 PM PST 10 • 0 • 12
