'A picture to remember.' (A Challenge Poem).

Challenge Description: Write a poem about a river bank, make it so I can see it! Any style (65 points) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I stand before the water, a ripple in the wet, Falling raindrops touch me, As i watch the way the leaves are swept... Along with wind and current, The pace begins to rise. Grass so tall around me, Whipping at my thighs. Trees begin to sway, The torrent soon begins, An image so divine, Babbling brook now river, Once dry stones all slip and slide, An overhanging edge, Begins to lose it's grip, The wet becomes the dry, And takes it! SPLASH! into the rage, It tumbles on and on, Slowly breaking down, Until it's all but gone. Sky begins to clear, The saturation stops. Calmness once again returns, The sun peeps out and remembers to be hot. Drenched already now, I sit upon the verge, Remove my shoes and socks, And let my feet submerge, Icy cold, but perfect, I gaze across the way, The gentle draping grasses, Heavy by the stormy day, Twitch upon surface, A little bend, a lean, Joined no more by swaying trees, For the wind is calm it seems. I sit before the water, threading toes in wet, The ripples seem to love me, This is a picture i will not forget Written January 18th, 2002 © on Jan 18 2002 10:14 AM PST, harry luck 0 • 10
