'Broken Ears.'

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I forget, what was that? I don't know... Straight between my ears. I listen hard to all of you, But I tell you I don't hear. I listen but am deaf. I'm all too busy with the artful drone, Spilling from my mind, Eating me up, consuming me, Searching for the man you've known... Come into my realm, Let me welcome you to an abstract home, Step into my chambers, Listen to the voice I own... Owned and controlled, But so contrived. Assembled with insanity. Imagine what lies there inside...?! Truth in lye’s, Lye’s that lie, Truth in ashes, Gagged and tied, GOD KNOWS I'VE TRIED... To speak the truth that hides. But I can't untie the ties, The truth I know can hide away... My lie’s are my demise. Crash, bang, crash, bang... Watch the boxes fall, One of joy, And one of hope, One for love, How can I cope? Here falls one for peace of mind, A shame I couldn't catch it, Another bounces past me, A little out of reach... Here I sit! Splashing pages full of words, Words that may mean nothing, Or perhaps they mean the earth? Perhaps I am a genius, Caught inside a foolish net, Or maybe I am nothing, Or perhaps just nothing yet! Catch me, before I fall, For I know that I am falling, Listen to my breaking voice, As I stand here, crying... calling! ARGH!!!
