'Counting Sheep.'

By blackheart

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Many hours laid awake, How many sheep, must it take? Watching trees all skimming by, Fields, cow and, ha! Sheep, i spy. A pointless task i find ahead, With this journey now, thoughts in my head, Street lights, houses, factories, more... Does all this seem a frightful bore? i hope so... it may just help me sleep, i’ve gone past a thousand of the damn black faced sheep! The day’s growing old, i’m tired, i ache... Please let me sleep... For tomorrow’s sake. It’s tomorrow in which i wish to wake... Yet still i’m counting sheep! Written March 12th, 2002 © on Mar 12 2002 03:31 AM PST, harry luck    0 • 10
