'plain as eye can see.'
By blackheart
Can one as ordinary as me, Be more than what is clearly seen, Can I be something meaningful? Could I be loved eternally? Can wings grow on an angel, Who knows he will not fly? Will ever I be… And can I ever be? Any more than me? For I feel like a burden, To every person that I meet, I feel like an idiot, More and more I feel weak, I’m in a tundra for the mind, A storm I wish I didn’t keep. I want to be the person, That a lover wants to meet! Can one as plain as eyes see me, Be anymore than ordinary, Could I be something wonderful? Can I be? Could I be? Can eyes not see past anger? A wall of tempest steel? Will I ever be… And can I ever be? Any more than me? For I only want to find you, So you may see me, real. Instead I seem to stumble, Whenever I can feel. That one more step I’d catch you, With open arms you’d fall, A perfect dream, I think, But I wake up after all. Can anyone as plain as I, See why? Perceive the anguish I endure, Wishing me would not equal I? Can anyone as bare as me, Not see? The simple hopes that never come, Look me in the eye, look at me! Show me how to be? Direct the smallest part of me? So I can meet in greatness, With the likes of beauty there… That perfect skin, the face, the eyes… They never lie, They simply stare… At the obscure simple plainness that I wear.
