the desert, too, is beautiful

the desert, too, is beautiful (for Andy) and you’ve got thorns and prickly things under your flowers, i know. but wandering across endless, dry sands i cannot but hope that each mirage yields you anyway. crushing, blazing, blistering heat eats me alive, desiccating me like drying blooms left on the shifting floor. and still i quest the way that gives to you… cut you open, drink you up, live, live, live. for the desert, too, is beautiful if it doesn’t kill you. --brian f. mccabe 11/17/99 Written November 17th, 1999 © on Dec 06 2001 09:16 PM PST   0 • 16
