A False Spring
By butch
The days, though not longer, are brighter now The sun returns from a cloudy hiding place The sky, so blue it takes the breath from me A warmness touches my skin awakening new desire..... Her eyes are green energy I cannot turn away Her lips, inviting me find me transfixed Her voice, seductive, reciting the words of love Captivated, out of control a moment of release..... The buds appear, and a new world awakens The brown landscape refreshes the colors recur Life begins anew, birds and crawlly things Nature at it's best the earth in ecstasy..... She loves me, she says to me alone She gave me her heart and promised dreams I fell to the depths of enraptured ardor No more need I seek a coveted fulfillment..... But, the season came too early, winter not done, An icy blast came down from northern hills Frost replacing solar glow and wilting blooms Winters last ride on tired frozen souls..... I reach out for her but, find only space Only the scent of her endures and remembrance Those words she spoke settle as frigid stone The intimacy pledged, nothing but false spring.........
