Moments

She awakens to the smell of coffee, brewing downstairs, in the kitchen, She rolls over for a few more minutes, but, the ugly sound, of alarm won't let her, Throwing a leg over the edge, the other follows, automatically, Heading to the bathroom, to relieve the pressure, built all night, For a flash of time, she doesn't recognize the reflection, on the mirror, Then she remembers, that age comes after beauty, time is always the winner, Drinking coffee, she heads out the door, not noticing the day, The drive is a blur, people unseen, cars unnoticed, Finally, at work, the desk awaits, computer screen becons, Monotony broken only by, two fifteen minute breaks, and a half hour lunch, Back on the road, this trip longer, all things noticed, Home/sanctity appears, falling through the door, falling in on herself, Under the covers again, safe, alone, unafraid, sleep comes softly, And, dreams, they too come, to fill the gaps, Moment to moment, day to day, beginning to end, Life becomes the sum, the total of everything, all there is, Sometimes she cries into her pillow...........
