In the Darkness

By Carole Dudley

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

iam blanketed in darkness OM. The rain is breathing in the darkness. Like a waterfall, a heavenly benediction, a stream plunging from that precipice to which no mind has climbed. The rain is breathing. OM. iamgoingintotheoneness, the hinted unity of man and stone dragging this frightened flesh, this reticent Child. OM. iam burnt by event by pain, by foreshadow of my first breath in eternity. iam inthe darkness, breathing. OM. We slide along The axis which holds infinity and all its concerns. mutable, through shades of good and evil, moved by love and hate, sanely inflexible, lunatic free. Balance, balance. OM In the symphony of existence, i pipe one note once softly. OM. The best of myself moves in sleep, tapping the fevered river of unconscious being. i listen to its flow, my heart beating its delicate drum. OM. Pride sickens the virtuous boy, but he dies of humility. Lust ignites the furnace of life, but life drifts to ashes from the fires of lust. OM. Life is death, and death is life.  Darkness is the womb of life. Darkness is OM and perfect peace. Here in the darkness under this rain, the waters of my Self would draw into the crucible of my creation. OM. We, who are here as in a dream will soon  be grievously ill, and in our illness cured of this life. Atman, be with us when we awaken. OM. In this darkness integrity of atom embraces us all, but, constricted by form, I see dawn creep near from the Eastern hills, tearing the flimsy bodice of my mind. Light blinds sight, is ominous with lurking cruelties. OM. Dawn is birth, and the beginning. The blade is unsheathed. Joys.  Passion.  Sorrow. Longing. Strivings after wind. OM. Near us, a presence throbs in the darkness. Oh, rain, silken on my soul, rain on. OM. Written December 24th, 2001 © on Dec 24 2001 10:08 AM PST, Carole Dudley   0 • 1
