Gone in the blink of the moon Aztec dogs of delight Hewn by the cleaver of time They lead like arrows sprung Aztec dogs of delight Spirits of love perfected They lead like arrows sprung This shivering soul to its womb Spirits of love perfected Guide from vision's inferno This shivering soul to its womb Lustrous paws streaking Guide from vision's inferno Hewn by the cleaver of time Lustrous paws streaking Gone in the blink of the moon.This is a re-write, based on the Aztec myth of the little dogs who lead the soul safely across the 9 rivers of the underworld.
