Requiem By Life
At your last death by slow disintegration, Of hope, and thought, and every freedom, I watched a pond's eye wink at the Bottomless sky, goldfish flicking through The iris like sensual thought, And the grass came everywhere green To my eyes, Befuddled with sunshine, And endings. I saw a big dog horned with the flight Of meadowlark and dizzy with flower, Whose spirit had ripened cavorting in The galaxy of Now's tumbling sensations, Neurons firing like buckshot, leaping Toward me to halt in my aura of Question, to give me his eyes Brimming with Soul. And I saw that I, alone, of living things, Was helpless to tell your requiem, Though all life pulsing in this high, bright Dream, Could speak your smile.
