The sea at Exmouth
By Chad
This is not the sea Where is its roar? Why doesn't it show its claws? Claiming back the land With a rattlesnake hiss Its' jagged, glassy teeth (Which some mock by riding) Don't show themselves here Instead it sleeps, tired, old As if it has been beaten by time Forced to sit, being not what it is But being removed, being chained By a calming wind... ... But I can see its' want Look hard enough and you can see its teeth... This is not the sea This is a blue field of turgid calm A mockery of what it wants to be A tidal push, pushed to despair Scared by boats, but not scaring the Earth It sits and waits for the world to turn its back So it may devour the beaches once moreDon't get me wrong, I love the sea =) Written November 11th, 2001 © on Nov 11 2001 08:46 AM PST 18 • 0 • 10
