Walk with me through the searing moonlight, through headstones old and proud; Between the living and the dead there is no light for souls misled by ancient idols now turned to sand. Striding through grass and grave, limitless in my display of wild, savage power. From forest deep to mountain peak behold, ecstatic spatial vistas born of the vision of the outsider. Countless centuries, future and past before my mournful gaze have passed and still you spit upon my honor. You drove me away, forbid me to stay and left me alone to wander in the back alleys of your precious little towns. On hillsides steep and canyons deep I find my perfect home; beneath the stars, on the plains of Mars or the craters of the Moon. I am the shadow in the shadows, the darkest cloud, the deepest dread, the vulture above your child's cradle. Within me are the lives of millions; within me are distant worlds and the depths of the deepest oceans. My freedom terrifies you--- it makes you afraid; I carry it closer than my own children. My kingdom I rule from wherever I stand--- can you boast so unchallenged a reign? Yes a king I am, and a king I will be, and all your disdain will never unthrone me. And 'til forgiveness for all is forgiveness for one until that day nothing more will be done to still your never-ending fears. Remember me. Copyright: © 2002, Charles Griffith.
