Don't Wake up the Sun

Don’t Wake Up the Sun Fall gently, sweet dewdrops, don’t wake up the sun Or let purple shadows of dawn come undone Hold onto the lingering fresh early mist For these are the moments when I will be kissed Don’t waken the lily or petals of rose Let dew settle softly before daylight glows Still wrapped in a blanket of deep morning haze For this is the most splendid time of my days When I am awakened by sounds of a lark Which echo so sweetly through mist in the dark I capture these moments, exquisite and true With misty eyed tenderness wakening you The vapor of dawn is the dew of delight The mist of enchantment that comes through the night It settles in droplets upon every blade Reflecting the beauty of love that we made Don’t hurry the dawn through the fresh morning mist For this is the moment when I will be kissed Written February 12th, 2002 © on Feb 12 2002 01:12 PM PST   0 • 8
