I AM (poetry challenge)

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I AM I am the one to give you birth To validate your place on earth To tell the tales of who you are And hold the beams of evening star I am the one to give you life And understanding of its strife To live, to die, to seek what’s true I am the one who teaches you I am a giver of delight In glow of evening’s silver light To speak of sorrow’s tender trace I am the one that you embrace I am the one that you respect For vicious moods I resurrect I put your mind and soul to rest In rocking cradles on my crest I am the one to give you strength To venture forth at any length Providing you with endless means To seek the bounty of your dreams I am the place where God abides Where blessings flow with changing tides I am the one He chose to be The rhythms of eternity You touch me softly on the rim You dive the depths of passion’s whim You ride the waves on golden sails Beside the beauty of the whales I am your friend, your foe, your love Reflecting moon and stars above I am the force from which you came And you have christened me a name         I am The Sea Written March 3rd, 2002 © on Mar 03 2002 12:43 AM PST   0 • 10
