I Tread the Earth

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I Stepped Upon the Earth I stepped upon the spingtime earth It held me in embrace The sunshine laid a veil of light And warmth across my face The red of robin filled my eye And sang my heart a trill Then donned was I in yellow skirts Of frilly daffodil Some blades of green that called my name Were tulips pushing up So I could drink their beauty From a purple petal cup I heard the voice of lavendar From lilacs budding leaves That sang me songs of fragrances That soon will fly the breeze Then all the blooms surrounding me And all those yet to come In choruses of nature’s hymns Spring’s glory had been sung It filled each sense with pleasure And the hope of life renewed The dogwood stood in silence For its grace would soon be viewed A barren winter turned to green Life’s seeds were given birth In the garden of the spirit As I tread the springtime earth Written April 4th, 2002 © on Apr 04 2002 02:29 AM PST   0 • 12
