That's All I know

That’s All I Know Each dawn begins with purple skies Each evening bathed in lullabies Some days bring joy and some bring strife And that is what I know of life I see reflected in one’s eyes The light of truth, the blink of lies Deceit can often start in youth And that is what I know of truth I’ve manned the helm upon a sea With no direction guiding me Not one kind soul was standing near And that is what I know of fear I lost the best and felt the worth Of what was lost upon the earth But in the end I know the best Is understanding spirit’s quest The light of God shines on my face He taught me all I know of grace The time is near my final breath And that is all I know of death I’ve opened up my spirit’s door In verses etched forevermore I’ve told the truth for all to see That’s all I know of poetry My book may well remain untouched Stored in a box in attic’s must Forgotten on a dusty shelf But I was always true to self My deeds I’ve done, the seeds I’ve sewn That is the life I’ve always known The dreams we wasted, that were ours That’s all I know of moon and stars Written March 5th, 2002 © on Mar 05 2002 12:15 PM PST   0 • 10
