We Stopped and Looked

By coyote

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

We stopped and looked. Some for the first time... all for the last time. Perhaps we never paid that much attention to skyscrapers, or even to New York. Now the whole world is paying attention. We are seeing more than we want to. We see landmarks destroyed. We see people mass-murdered. We see people falling, jumping, and dying. And now we are bracing for the blow that we, as a nation, must absorb...war! A war that will be limited in mission, broad in scope, and long in completion. Many have already died--we pray for them. We know more will die---we pray not many. 9/18/01The future may already be written. Written September 18th, 2001 © on Sep 18 2001 12:20 PM PST   10 • 0 • 1
