(Old Peoples Home - Children)
By Danw
Open the doors and let him in He will not harm you for he is the only one He slumps crippled in his wheel chair as small demons laugh at his youth now lost They laugh at a hero now worn and tired, his achievements provide a sedative But their laughs burn his tortured soul, his body weak his face withered He prepares to die respectfully and quietly Since the evil ones have diminished his pride to a state of depression ‘Ha ha ha’ the children laugh as the old hero fails to reach his goal in time ‘He’s pissed himself’, he cries internally as he hears their thoughts For one last chance at pride he stands tall and smiles at the children With a finger extended and held high The old man leaves for eternal rest in the knowledge that he will have forever..... Had the last laugh! You'll have to forgive me if this one is a tad childish, it was one of my first poems. Written December 22nd, 2000 © on Mar 18 2002 06:46 AM PST 10 • 0
