Darkness has fallen upon my soul in droves All my energy has taken flight and left me comatose Lying amidst shattered dreams and one broken heart Breathless I try to pull the heavy air into my lungs While the bitter tears fall unheeded by anyone Moaning with the intense pain caused by this loneliness Wishing for some noise to take away the cacophony of silence Wondering how I will make it through another night Knowing somehow that the ache will only get worse My hands reach for the ghost of you that got left behind Grasping at the memories of happier times Teasingly they dance just out of reach, slipping away Leaving behind only more suffering and distress Pictures of you smile from their place on the wall Causing the knife to twist deeper into my insides Falling to my knees I pray from some sort of solace Begging for a release from this prison of pain That caged me the day you walked out the door Written March 25th, 2002 © on Mar 25 2002 11:52 AM PST, Tami Ellis 0 • 1
