Not Quite A Gift

By Deiyen

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Did you ever get sick of your parents’ voices?I had to listen; I made no choices.Did you ever skip a class and get detention?Teacher says I never paid attention.Did you ever smoke a cigarette to fit in?Yes, but I would never do it again.Did you ever write a paper and get an F?Though I tried my best, I got angry and left.Did you ever get married to someone you couldn’t stand?Without her, my life would be grand.Did you ever have kids and nag at them every day?All they wanted to do is play.Did you ever wonder if free will is simply a myth? Some people say it’s God’s best gift.Did you ever stop for a little to sit and wonder...Why?
