As he flew through the night, He listened to its tune, All the night creatures, Singing praises to the moon. Blue looked up to the stars, To guide him in his flight, He didn’t have a destination, On this moonlit night. The stars up in the sky, Lit a path for him to follow, Blue had no idea, Where he would land next morrow. Blue headed north, As the stars lit his way, His dreams of great adventure, In his mind they did play. He stopped to rest towards morning, Under a toadstool in a glen, Falling asleep so peacefully, His wings blanketing him. The moon and stars shone down on him, Nature sang him to sleep, So tired was he from his flight, Blue’s being afraid would keep. He couldn’t understand, When morning came next day, How his parents would mourn, The fact he ran away.
