Glass House
By dianes
I live in a glass house, Looking out, Watching everyone else enjoy life. What happened to me pursuing mine… I press my hands upon the four glass walls, Pressing my palms flat, Pushing, Straining,to shatter my glass home. All my handprints from over the years, Have smudged the panes, Making it difficult to see out, I find myself sliding down hopeless in my plight. Life goes on around me everyday, Laughter filters through to ring in my ears, Watching others find love, Watching others live… Leave it to me to find a home, Of shatterproof glass, Keeping me caged in, To gawk at like some circus sideshow. A curiosity, People stop to stare, Never taking the time, To find out who or what I am. Look at me, I am a person, Just like you, With wants and needs. How many like me, Do you pass by every day, Not even taking the time to say, Hello… You scoff at us, Forgetting we are prisoners, Of our own making. Hoping you won’t be one too."just some thoughts" Written March 1st, 2002 © on Mar 01 2002 11:03 AM PST 0 • 9
