Heart in Flight
By dianes
She waits in the dark alone, No need to hurry, No place to go, She sits waiting patiently. Waiting for his words to speak to her heart, To soothe her battered soul, For the words that will make her heart sing once again, Like a bird taking off in flight. Soaring off chirping happily in the wind, Letting the breezes take her to places unknown, Flitting to and fro, A sweet song of freedom. The cage door has been left open, No one noticed her escape, No one heard the flutter of her wings, Her mate calling to her from across the miles. Such a sweet chirping, So happy to fly with her mate, Yet knowing she must return home to her gilded cage, Waiting for his song to call again once more.
