Her Soul Will Fly
By dianes
She is but a tortured soul, Torn in between, A life of security, Or adventures unforseen. Her soul wants to fly, To do more than just exist, Responsibilities hold her back, Wishing time would permit. How she wish she could be selfish, Just pick up and go astray, She has done her duties, But yet time ticks away. So much history to hold her back, But it’s a future that she wants, The past had its chance, Now the future just taunts. What goes around, come around, Keeps ringing in her head, She’s told him several times, But he still lies in her bed. Every night she lies there, Watching him as he sleeps, Wondering how he can pretend, That her love he still keeps. Marriage is a compromise, Between a woman and a man, But compromising her heart, Is something she can’t stand. It’s not like she didn’t tell him, All those years ago, That he killed what she felt for him, Asking him to let her go. She knows he will be bitter, She knows he’ll act surprised, She knows that he’ll shed a tear, He was his own demise. For now her soul will fly, Her heart will soar once more, If only he had listened, Before she shut the door. Written February 24th, 2002 © on Feb 24 2002 02:56 PM PST 0 • 12
