My Solemn Promise Broken
By dianes
I broke a solemn promise, That I made to myself, I hardened up my heart, Put it upon a shelf. Said I would love no more, For it only brings me pain, I will just live my life, With nothing more to gain. I was so tired of crying, Hoping my life would change, I tried everything, Love, I just couldn’t attain. One day you walked into my life, A smile upon your face, Your gentle thoughts and words, My pain you soon erased. Now a special friendship, Of two hearts and minds, Hearts know no distance, Our souls have entwined. For now I feel so much, Emotions run out of control, You are now such a part of me, Mind, body and soul. You have broken down my defenses, Have scaled all my walls, You have opened up my heart again, I have heard your love call. So now you hold my heart, From a woman who broke her vow, Precious in your hands, Questioning what do I do now… Written February 23rd, 2002 © on Feb 23 2002 06:14 AM PST 18 • 0 • 8
