My Traffic Light
By dianes
I want to reach out, To touch you, See you, Make sure you are reality, Not some figment of my imagination. Life has laughed at me one to many times, Snickering and giggling, Watching me make a fool of myself, In one way or another. Now on my road, I only see one light, It’s not Green for GO… Or RED for STOP. My light is YELLOW, CAUTION, Look both ways, Before you proceed. I am an accident, Just waiting to happen, Blink at the wrong time, Heart gets sideswiped. Accidents do happen, No matter how careful you are, It was an accident, That we met. I thought I was being a defensive driver, On my life’s road, Staying on my own side of the road, Passing only when I thought it was safe. Then you came along, A scenic roadside resting spot, I was so tired, You made me pull over to STOP. I finally got off that endless turnpike, With all the roadblocks, Congestion and accidents, That was making my drive difficult. I sat there just drawing in all your beauty, A fresh breathe of air, I could feel myself start to relax, Didn’t care to keep driving on relentlessly. It was nice to STOP to smell the roses, To listen to the babbling brook, To lie back and pick out cloud animals, I felt alive once more. CAUTION had turned to STOP, STOP to listen, STOP to admire, STOP to think. I like it here with you, I’m relaxed, I’m me once more, I think I will just…PARK.
