This is What I Want (AP Assig)

This is what I want: I know I could wish for world peace, I know I could wish for cures for all kinds of diseases, I know I could wish for money. But what I really want: Is for once in my life to be selfish, To be totally self absorbed in my wants and needs, To have someone just for me, Who wants me for me, Who adores me, Who worships the ground I walk upon, Who knows when to hold me, Who knows when to leave me alone, Who makes my heart beat when I hear him on the phone, Who can love me at least half as much as I love him, Who doesn’t go off in a tangent, or rage for the least little whim. I want to be able to sit on the front porch and watch the sunrise, Never say a word to each other, And feel like it’s the best conversation I never had. I want to be able to sit on the sofa, Cuddled up with him and fall asleep in his arms, I want to lie like two spoons in a silverware drawer, Nestled close together and wake up with a smile, Knowing we would consummate our love and affection for each other. I want to be with someone who is my best friend, My confidante, my lover, Someone who I want to grow old beside, Someone who I will watch my last sunset with, Snuggled together enjoying the life we have shared, Knowing we were always meant to be.
