Truck Drivin Man (Part 1)
By dianes
He gets up at the crack of dawn, Slowly stretches... Pulls his boots on. Coffee timer goes off and perks, His caffeine to get him alert. Opens the fridge, Rustles around, He'll grab a donut while he's driving to town. Grabs his thermos, Fills it up, Make sure it's there when he needs another cup. He's got a long haul, Gonna be a long day, By the time he gets home, Everyone will be tucked away. Climbs up on his big rig, Toots the horn, Needs that paycheck, Has to conform. As he drives down the highway, His mind drifts back to the day, When he used to jump on his Harley, Oh, what fun to play. But now he's married, Bills to pay, But he thinks of his children, Put his Harley away. He had fun in his youth, Played hard yes he did, But adulthood came, Along with the kid. He grabs his thermos, Time for another cup, He drives down the road, Just stirrin up dust. Written January 24th, 2002 © on Jan 24 2002 11:13 AM PST 0 • 8
