What Happened to that Little Girl
By dianes
What happened to that little girl? People come to ask, I often wonder that myself, What had happened in her past? She always seemed to smile at you, Whenever you looked her way, But yet you could see the sadness, If you took the time to stay. It was a smile of shyness, One so full of hope, It was a smile that if taken away, Would leave your heart broke. I guess the only hearts that would break, Would had been the ones, who took the time to care, The ones that could see behind the smile, The ones who were aware. An innocence and a childhood, Had been stripped away from her, All for a moments pleasure, From someone who was suppose to treasure. While most children took small steps, To learn about such things, She was pushed right up those stairs, To endure pain and suffering. Now that child is grown, She still has that same smile, She still hides her fear and shame, Forsaken, all the while. Written February 20th, 2002 © on Feb 20 2002 01:38 AM PST 0 • 9
