Rozamund, Siren of the Severn

By docbooth

And did that faceA thousand ships set sailAlong the waters of the SevernTowards the new Jerusalem? And did that smileWhich flashed across her faceRaise high the hopesOf those sturdy Men of OakAs they sailed onwards, ever onwards,To the Never Never Land? And did her eyesThat shone and piercedThe darkness of the nightChart clear the course for thoseWho sailed those waters of the Severn? And was it hers,That Siren voice,Which did a song of sweetness singThat caused the boatsTo split their beamsUpon the hidden boulders of the Severn? And as the sailors shouted out aloudThe name of Rozamund,And cried it yet again,Did she smile that gentle smile And let the sparkle in her eyesGive one last hope to them who sailedThose waters of the Severn? And as they drowned They lived their dreamAnd held her in their arms. They touched her face and kissed her lipsAnd felt their hearts beat fast,For in that single span of timeThose sailors of the waters of the SevernHad reached that Never Never LandAnd did see that new Jerusalem.
