Coming Undone
By dottie
The world was bright and full of adventure to take off on a dash -on a bet-name a venture! The world was scary and dark and exciting- riots, debates, and fads for igniting, The world was not bland- just black and white- the gray- all of it's shades-were mine and were right! My father- old fashioned, My mother -milk toast, I knew all the answers, "Ask me!" I would boast. But now the world is just not so bright- an adventure is putting my clothing on right. My future is scary and the dark's not exciting- stop that chanting, my lumbago's igniting. Ralph Nader is older -gee, he got gray! That shade can't be right -seems just yesterday. My old blinding father, My dying old mother- these lumps in my throat- Seems I just soon may smother. I guess for today I will take it on faith- Someone knows the answers- Maybe, there are none. Maybe it's just a stream of consciousness- coming undone. Written October 15th, 2001 © on Oct 15 2001 08:00 AM PST 18 • 0 • 10
