A Battle Long Lost
By Ender
I stand on a deserted street, trying to see past their deceit A shocked expression on my face My world is rocked all around, torment and pain does surround I hang my head in disgrace I remember the happiness I once had, it’d been so long since I was sad It slipped through my fingers like sand Nothing no longer is what it seems, smashed like mirrors are my dreams And everything I had planned Still on this empty street I stay, bitterly laughing as they betray Nowhere no longer to take me Emptiness to match what’s inside, no one in which I can confide Alone forever I am and will be Dark clouds part in the sky, giving me an ounce of hope to try To continue through the onslaught A happy song sounds from above, maybe then there is love And no longer lost battles fought Written November 24th, 2001 © on Nov 24 2001 06:23 AM PST 18 • 0 • 1
