Christmas Coroner
Take down the baubles from the tree [red white silver glass]. Dull their shine, those days are over, the Goddess has gone to sleep. Wrap them up in soft paper [shrouds]. Shut them up in the boxes [coffins]. Pack them away for three hundred sixty odd days; or years. Make them winter vampires: rise at the twilight of the old year, sleep at the dawning of the new. Make me a phoenix- mindless, please. I can't handle these memories.yes, it is about packing up Christmas ornaments. But it's a metaphor. Anyone get it? oh yes...and the reason it says 'the Goddess' is because I'm Wiccan, so for me the evergreen represents the Goddess, not Santa Claus or whatever it means to most people. Sorry, but no one ever seems to understan these references so I figured I'd better explain. Written December 30th, 2001 © on Dec 30 2001 11:05 AM PST 18 • 0 • 1
