Thorns
By FallinTears
A single rose you delivered to my door The same day you broke your promise to come see me It was beautiful still wet with the morning’s dew Soft silky petals and sea green stem It lies in my hands as I run my fingers across it Gingerly my fingers sweep… Slowly the slide down the stem At the very bottom I feel a tiny prick Looking at my finger, a perfect circle of blood has formed Only one thorn… You made me bleed The petals suddenly start to wilt… they slowly die Withering they fall… Seeping out of the cracks of the dieing rose… My blood Little rivers of rubies Flowing down the ugly thing that lies in my hands I can hear it laugh Yes it laughs in my face Along with the blood that has covered my hands My blood The rose you sent to me… Is laughing in my face It drops to the floor… and so do I Covered… Covered in blood… My bloodIt feels as though my heart is slowly buring. Dieing it cracks... and falls to the bottom of my chest... down to my stomach... where it sits... and makes me sick. Written December 16th, 2001 © on Dec 16 2001 01:26 PM PST 18 • 0 • 1
