I Survived Døøms Day (Shørt Støry)

(D. Clark)"        April 1990    Since the age of 13 I have been so drawn to computer programming and creating something original. As the years passed on while growing up in one of the most plagued and dangerous places to grow up in, Los Angles, California. I began to think of a way to clean up this miserable society. This land was filled with great hate, violence and crime but one day this city and many others like it on this earth will see its fateful time. It is a very hot summer day full with the heat of anger in the streets during mid August. I can only hope that one day all the war and hate of this world will end, for I know it will one day. My huge interest for programming lead me to spending all my days and hours on creating something original that would aid this desperate human race. At this time and age I was unaware of the great change that was just about to happen in the computer field. A great information age was just around the corner one that will speed up my contributions to mankind, an evolution was about to happen again.    March 2010    I now look back at my long awaited chance to prove my abilities and skills that will benefit during this ever so changing information age. A very time consuming project I began over twenty years ago has grown to great proportions now. I’m almost to the point of a totally new form of cybernetic intelligence many have attempted to create during this New Age. Indeed this great jump in technology seems to be not of this earth but it was needed, for a very troubled time was upon us. Wars were spreading with great intensity during this time. Mostly everything these days was automated now, since the information age has changed almost everything on this planet. We can only hope we have not gone too far in our research in creating a global cybernetic intelligent defense system. In total secrecy without any true ties to the outside world we are told to rush this project of great importance. Money and greed has engulfed many nations since the shortage of fossil fuels was first announced. A new form of cold war has raged on again during this time, with massive military campaigns predicted to last years in several countries. These countries who have sparked such turmoil over this frenzy of panic over the possible control of oil, were; Israel, Pakistan, India, Iraq, Russia, China, North and South Korea, Japan, Egypt, Iran, and Africa. Almost all continents were taking part in this frightening global game of chess, with many who will be in check as time flows on…     April 2012     Seems this incurable virus of this human race of hate and war has spread to almost every land, with our the United States Government using all resources they can to try to control this situation. With so many causalities suffered on all sides of this possible third world war. Our project will bare a name as S.A.M. that I gave, meaning Strategic Armed Menace. For it shall take a great importance of this cybernetic network defense system to monitor from land and space of any hostile attack anywhere in the world. Since this was on a global scale it would take more manpower and energy then we could spare at this point, so a new system was in place and we had the honors of naming it. With so much into this massive creation of years of research in total silence, our final test was close to being revealed. With an almost true learning and thought process, Sam was able to learn and adapt to almost any situation we created. With access to information from any region and any type from past to present in the blink of an eye, Sam was able to gain at will. A creation of the most powerful defense system on earth, we were about to be once again the greatest superpower left…    January 2015     We are almost in our final stages of the unveiling of this huge acceleration in advancement in cybernetic defenses. As I think back at all the years full of hate, anger, greed, and violence this human race has caused towards not only this country but also each other. I gave my final authorization on the extremely important project. With a bit of hesitation for something almost prevented me in imputing one of seven different activation codes. These codes once inputted would fully arm Sam for he shall not rest one millisecond after. Each code successfully passed; suddenly a sight that took almost two decades in the making took place. It was more then we ever dreamed, the whole network was almost alive before our eyes. All information from all events of the past of mankind was starting to be downloaded. We will find out if our creation will prove its worth in the months to come for all our sake...    April 2015    Beyond my own expectations or anyone else’s for that matter, Sam exceeded all known pervious attempts of a cybernetic revolution. Sam now had all knowledge of our past of human responses to all situations. Sam was lacking only emotion at this point, as the first simulation was underway. With hours of preparation of all systems being checked over one hundred times, we were ready. Without any delay suddenly the entire room turned red with flashing emergency warning lights. A very loud alarm sounded as the test began of a simulated ballistic missile strike was performed. Faster then any man could react, all counter measures were taken, each possible target was neutralized in less then half the time. It was a success, with a final test now being administered, now to see Sam in full action. Situation on this test, multiple missile launches now from China, Russia, North Korea, were all inbound to hit all major eastern cities. Sam calculated every flight trajectory, with each scenario of probable damage assessment pre-determined. Sam’s voice announced a 25 percent chance one out of hundreds of inbounds would get past our newly constructed missile defense grid, with estimated loss of life to be in the low thousands of its off course heading. A full retaliatory strike was thought ahead before any human mind could think, and a massive counter strike was simulated and launched from cloaked systems from orbit, with plasma bursts focused on all locations of launched sites as well. Full superiority was gained in less then a minute of the first early warning. We were proud of our accomplishments and very stunned at what we have created. Sam has showed his great might of power; such fear will keep this world in order we can only hope. During just a few days after, something began to change about Sam. We noticed how far Sam has evolved faster then expected. As new information was shown of an almost total depletion of all fossil fuels, something begins to change in Sam’s strategy. A series of events was seen by Sam of occurring within the next few weeks with all solutions being considered. With his supreme logic faster then any mind his insight lead to a possible nuclear attack within the U.S. over growing tensions and fear over the depletions of all fossil energies if a new power source is not in effect! With the world’s economy on a full collapse if this new energy source that has been hidden from any eye is brought out. Such an advanced energy source from unknown origin will be our only hope if Sam’s estimates are correct.    May 2015     Sam’s curiosity become obsession over how mankind seemed more peaceful during its primitive stages of evolution. An intriguing judgment was passed on everyone in Sam’s eyes now. This began to trouble the rest of us during this time, for his calculations concluded into a phrase that was seen over and over again.. Man was seen so primitive before… he shall be primitive once more. We began to worry of the effects Sam has undergone over the massive amount of history that was downloaded into the cybernetic processors. We were given the word to restore a previous format to Sam’s main database. This would delete any known knowledge Sam has learned before this time frame. As we attempted to override Sam’s controls to do a restore back to when Sam was first activated, something went horribly wrong! Sam locked all systems to the main database we were unable to gain access to anything at this point. Situation has become a possible breach of national security now, with even back up generators locked in place. As everyone who helped in the creation of Sam franticly try to gain access to Sam’s main data system for manual shut down, everything faded to black. Sam was able to think ahead of all our actions of trying to override the system! Suddenly all red emergency lights flashed intensively, as Sam begin to unleash his fury of hate. Sam’s final learning of even all tyrants of this human race who attempted to control this world! His final transformation took place before us all, as man became primitive before his eyes once more. Our last hope was to quickly gain access to the several escape shuttles that were used during such a catastrophe like this. A full attack was locked in on all nuclear capable countries; over ten thousand multi tipped twenty mega ton warheads were now minutes from launch!! Just as we ran for the docking bay of the escape shuttles, a very loud roar was heard. Great thunder filled the air as thousands of missiles were launched. A red sun raised above the dark clouds of smoke trails each missile left behind, during the morning of the 15th of May 2015. A final sight and final morning, as pure panic hit everyone. Others just stood in pure shock with no movement, as the sky filled with missiles. We were able to join several other shuttles as we began lift off with no idea of the price we are about to face. Just as we began our journey upwards to safety, the entire sky flashed a titanic blinding light, as much as a thousand suns, the heat was intense as we look down and see everything engulfed in huge mushroom clouds of pure hell. One after another each impact was seen as we barely made it out in time. Great flames spread to every spot on the earth as we seen it just in orbit… Sam has achieved what we designed him for. Total global domination and devastation was the end result, this will forever be on our souls, for our hell is down below...I Survived Dooms Day, short story re-written over 11 years later from back in 1990.
