Daddy's Bones
By G man767
I am a farmer, an Oklahoma man. A man who has seen the Dust Bowl and Famine. I held two hungry children while their mother was sick. I cried the tears of a lonely man, an empty man... unable to give, too proud to take. And I held, I held and I prayed. For in that dust blew my Daddy's bones in my eyes and in my throat. And I held, I held two wailin' children so helpless and hungry. Aye, that day I saw myself... And Daddy's bones blew no more. --Uncle Greg Written October 2nd, 2001 © on Oct 01 2001 06:16 PM PST 0 • 18 • 1
