Thank You Man

I write these words in silent  tribute And raise this glass in holy toast To the soldiers of ill dispute That have died on every coast Some say they are angry men Or men that have no souls They only do what they can To fill your voter's polls No one can truly know the torment In which these heroes have died Their families have written the government And still they return no reply I have lost a few good friends along the way All good men they where I can only hope there is justice in what I sayAs they rest within the dirt It's not easy life to fight for your country To take a life is never the plan For our only real bounty Is to unite what we can We do this for or children We never ask you why It has become your plan To just let us die The tears of pain could never end For the unanswered prayers No money could mend The suffering a military family indores All we ask for is respect From our people and government I think for our death This is not a big payment So the next time You see a veteran Just cross that line To say 'Thank You Man' Written October 22nd, 2001 © on Oct 22 2001 11:00 AM PST   0 • 9
