Moments (M)
By Gwion
Why am I stuck on the thought That words can be cleared With a brush of a hand And the world turned on its axis by a thrust? A rush And I’m caught up in the backcurrent. How quickly things can turn on you In the exhale of a whisper. How quickly the universe can crumble When we lie to ourselves, When our hearts change their rhythms And run against the tides Memories form As moments in our minds And we have no control On what we choose to retain. I remember my first leather, My first song And that cold crushing glare of lust. And moments remain When all else is lost; A dried rose I kept And a scrawl on a napkin, A bus ticket, a photograph, A smile caught, Taken forever out of time.
