I got to thinking when out walking, Over the hills of the mystical realm Of Life. I sensed a thousand woodland aromas Assault my nose in a tender way, And I felt the spongy mattress of leaves And moss massage my feet As I continued on my quest. I looked up to the Heavens and they glared Down on me. I walked on through the rain And I came to realise it was pain. And as the eyes of forest animals and magical People watched me from the trees, I reached a cross in the road and I Lay down and wept. A monster grinned at me. At that point the Blizzard King came Stumbling through the trees. He gripped my heart with gentle brutality And whispered in my ear. "I will lead you on my child, Out of the torrential pain. You can dry your clothes and go to sleep And never wake again". I started to go with Him, to trust this deceitful beast. I wanted to give in to him and believe that He knew best. But I saw the sun hiding behind a cloud And I turned to the Blizzard King. "This trek may well be arduous And I might have lost heart. But so long as I can FEEL the rain, Then I can at least Anticipate The relief of journey's end". And at that point a beam of sun Burst open on my head. The Blizzard King vanished with a terrible scream And I could breathe anew. Written January 20th, 2002 © on Jan 22 2002 10:07 PM PST 18 • 0 • 12
