Swept Off My Feet
By Hanger
We went for a walk … you and I On a day without a cloud in the sky I needed to tell you a secret I kept An emotion so raw that away I was swept We walked round the block, for nearly an hour We walked thru the park, past the shop with the flower We talked about work and all manner of things Yet still how to tell you my mind would not bring Then you asked me what I want to say? I wanted to hide for the rest of the day My pulse raced, my throat went dry Internally I wanted to cry A fear of rejection or a slap in the face My heart was pounding and I quickened the pace Then I took a deep breath and started to speak I told you I loved you as my fear reached its peak I dared not to look as the moments went bye When you said you loved me I let out a sigh With a feeling like just winning a prize I looked at you and saw love in your eyes Then we walked in silence the rest of the way Neither one knowing quite what to say How could we known what was to follow A love that just grew like the birth of a swallow But obstacles here in our path right away I struggle with life need to see you each day For our lives intertwine like a climbing rose The thorns a reminder not to get to close But for now I will love you and wait by your side From the view of others you know I must hide So a kiss tides me over until we next meet When again I know I’ll be swept off my feet Written October 19th, 2001 © on Oct 18 2001 05:01 PM PST 0 • 8
